Guidelines for Classroom Observers
¨ The Children’s School tries to promote a tranquil environment. Please open and close our classroom door quietly.
¨ A Montessori classroom is a calm and peaceful place. Please speak in a whisper voice to the teacher, assistant, and children.
¨ In order for us to successfully assist your child in the learning process, please refrain from interrupting children at work.
¨ If a child approaches you, please keep the conversation brief, and help us by reminding the child to continue with his/her work.
¨ We understand that younger siblings and children may be visitors in our classroom. Please assist us by keeping a watchful eye on your visiting child.
Montessori Ground Rules
1. Respect self, others, and the environment.
2. Always use grace and courtesy.
3. Be respectful and attentive during line time/group time.
4. Carry only one thing at a time.
5. Use two hands to carry an activity and/or materials.
6. Use a rug for all floor activities.
7. Use a table for all table activities.
8. When you need a teacher, walk over to her, touch her shoulder or arm, and wait for her to respond.
9. When wanting to join a child, ask if you may. (The child has the right to say “yes” or “no, thank you”).
10. Always use table manners while eating.
11. Appropriate playground behavior is expected.
12. Wash your hands:
a. Before you eat snack/lunch.
b. Before preparing food.
c. After using the bathroom.
d. Before and after using clay/play dough.
